A new girl crush...

Wow i just can't stop admiring her beauty. Her name is Ashley Graham and she is a well known plus size model. She just looks like a cross between Eva Mendes and Natalie Portman. Astounding.....

Obssession Of The Month (OOTM) : Fluvia Lacerda

When the word Brazil and model come to mind, the name that would cross your mind would probably be Gisele Bunchden but you should check out this plus size model her name is Fluvia Lacerda and man is she is sexy. I think beauty is something that shouldn't be categorized and put into stereotypes, beauty is something that is universal, i just wish people would tend to accept that more.

An inspiration for all you sugamama's out there..

The media and the fashion industry has played a big part in making girls feel more conscious about their own body, i too feel that. In high school most of the girls would always feel unsatisfied about themselves, it was always complaint after complaint about their own body, stating they had large thighs or arms or legs or whatever in college right now it is not any different either. Girls and women are consumed with what the fashion industry feeds them thinking that size 0 models are somewhat sexy, starving yourself until you reach your weight is good for you. The truth is at what point do we have to continue doing this to ourselves? At what point are we always going to rant and rant about our body despite it imperfections i'm blessed with a healthy body despite it being bigger than other girls, i'm okay with that. Sometimes i hate going to some malls and the size they only have is all size (what the hell is allsize? you can't categorize shapes of different girls in to one size? that is just ridiculous) or the scrutiny girls receive if they are too fat. I just wish people would be more accepting, just because they are different it doesn't mean you can't accept them.
Meanwhile i have fell in love with this plus size model for ages i recently read her article in teen vogue(the one with Taylor Lautner on the cover). Her name is Crystal Renn she recently wrote a book called hunger, the book is about her past ordeals with her weight. At 14 she aspired to become a model and was told to lose a third of her body weight, this triggered a health crisis causing her to reevaluate her diet and health. After gaining back 32 kgs she reemerged as a plus size model and has appeared in countless magazines and fashion spreads such as vogue US, Italy, Germany, I-D magazine, Glamour USA,etc.

I hope she can be an inspiration to other girls, to accept the way they are and not complain about everything. I just wish there was more plus size stores in Jakarta.

Make up banned on Iran's state television?

Iran's state television will ban make-up for women, "unruly children", "abnormal music". An Iranian newspaper reported this Wednesday. According to this article, The broadcaster's top manager, Ezzatollah Zarghami, told his managers that female presenters wearing makeup are to be taken off air, saying the wearing of makeup was against the law -- even though millions of women in this country use it. He said there "should be no insulting of family elders by children."

Iran's state television has had major backlash from supporters and opponents of the government, stating that their programs are relatively dull and not able to appeal to the nation's middle class. The Middle class in Iran tune into foreign networks instead.

Geee i myself can't live a day without a little touch up let alone being exposed bare faced on television that must be a total nightmare. LOL

Pride and Prejudice and zombies made into a movie???

Again, Hollywood is out of ideas and set to remake another classic novel: Pride and Prejudice and zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame Smith. As you all know this is a twist of the classic pride and prejudice except with ultra violent zombie mayhem....
According to Trade Magazine Variety, Natalie Portman the star of movies such as starwars, Garden state and The Other Boleyn Girl will not only take on the role as the heroine Elizabeth Bennett but she will also produce the movie. Handsomecharlie production company, Natalie's own production company will back the project.

Hmmm i sure hope this turns out to be good, can't imagine girls in their gowns fighting zombies in 19th century London. I sure hope the genre will be horror- comedy :D
I wonder who will be playing Mr Darcy, i want it to be Clive Owen.
He is the sex.

What you should listen to and download...my recommendation....

A Musician in the making...

A few days ago i was browsing the internet while watching star world (multi-tasking)..and i came across an report on Zee Avi, a Malaysian musician. So i just searched for her on google and downloaded her album(The power of rapidshare people).
Her music exceeded my expectations, somewhat pop, with a little jazz she kinda reminded me of colbie caliat and lisa ono combined..
My favourite tunes were Bitterheart which reflects on heartbreak, poppy which tells the story of her boyfriend being lost to drug addiction and kantoi which had some mixed languages (couldn't tell what it was perhaps malaysian and english, played on ukulele, a small guitar like instrument discovered in hawai).

Zee Avi was first discovered on Myspace and her debut album with the same name has hit #130 US Billboard Hot 200 Chart and #2 US Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart, and sold 6,000 copies in the United States in its first 2 weeks of release(as of June 9, 2009) according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Her first single "Bitter Heart" spent 3 weeks on Japan's Top 100 Singles chart. It entered the chart at #82 and peaked at #63, where it stayed for 2 weeks.

Myspace has played a part in orbiting many talented musicians, i'm glad that in music there is no longer geographical boundaries, with our world becoming somewhat like a global village. We have the internet to thank for that, Thank You Internet...

Another book worthy of my review: Marvel Romance

Romance...Love...who hasn't felt it..from teenagers to adults...love, romance has been a common theme and inspiration in our lives...from songs...to books...to movies..
And well, basically anything that you can ever think of.
Here is a book i read recently a series of comics combined from Marvel popular stories such as "It Happened at Woodstock," "My Heart Broke in Hollywood," "Love on the Rebound!", My Love #2, #14, #16 and #18-20; Teen-Age Romance #77 and #84, Our Love Story #5 all the best love stories from the sixties and seventies.
Well for me this is unheard of for marvel to make romance stories like these, i basically just liked the pop art inspired cover, the bold inking and color in the pages was also refreshing for me.
But the story however, i felt to be to cliche, it's always the same thing
Girl(Damzel in distress) falls secretly in love with a handsome man and is heartbroken to find out he is with someone else. Only then does he realize he secretly loves her too...
Woah..
i wished that kinda thing happened in reality...
HHAAHHAHA..
maybe i view romance as something to be more complex nowadays..
I don't know how you can love someone simply by not even knowing them first, in an intimate level
and i'm not a believer in love at first sight so those kinda stories don't do it for me..
But overall there were some nice stories that i liked and besides Stan Lee's overwrought dialogue for his heroines Sue Storm (Invisible Girl), Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), and Janet van Dyne (the Wasp) was developed in stories such as these so i'm not complaining at all...

My review on Ghost Rider: The Road to Damnation

Hmmm here's another graphic novel that caught me off guard....
I wasn't really into Ghost rider
well that's because the movie was kinda crap...
and cheesy as well..
but i loved Nicholas Cage though...
anyways...
I recently read this book which was by Gahrth Eins (as the author) and Clayton Crain (as the illustrator)
and i just loved it...
it perfectly captured ghost rider as a tormented soul who is suffering in depths of hell....
and gave meaning to the ghost rider as a bounty hunter...
i basically fell in love with the art..
it was FLAWLESS...
the combination of colors, it just truly captured the essence of hell...
of how dark it was...
how excruciating it was...
The story too gave it a meaning, that good doesn't always conquer evil...
and that the weak are always the one's who will suffer..
basically if you love ghost rider you should read it...
i couldn't keep my eyes off it

my Wishlist this christmas..

Dear everyone i know...
i would really like to have this book for christmas....
like really...
really like to...

I've always loved mythology and myths..
about any cultures.....
i've always just been interested in it...

i recently read the National Geographic essential visual history of the world..
and let me tell you...
it's a good book...
it's not expensive...
yet gives you so much knowledge..

i suggest to all of you to read history..
where you can actually learn about the past and gain knowledge regarding significant events that has happened..

My Review on Joker by Brian Azzarello(author) and Lee Bermejo illustrator

I've never really been a big fan of graphic novels well until i read this book which i bought for my boyfriend
:D

when i read it at a bookstore i just fell in love
The story isn't from Joker's point of view instead it's the story of joker from the eyes of his recent employee Johnny frost...
The story starts off with joker being released from Arkham Asylum and taking back his power in Gotham....

This story just shows the brutality joker, his sociopath ways and him taking on other famous villans such as Two face, Riddler

The one thing i really loved was the illustration..
it was dark...
i loved the colors..
This is what inspired me to love graphic novels
:D
